The Health Benefits of SUPing

World Mental Health Day is a chance for us all to stop and think about taking care of ourselves and our loved ones.

The first thing for us to say here is, if you are worried about your own mental health or the mental health of someone else, then you should visit the NHS site for advice or speak to a professional.

Benefits of exercise

The benefits of exercise are well known by now, there is strong evidence that regular exercise reduces the risk of all sorts of illnesses. Even just exercising once a twice a week can reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Exercise has also been shown to reduce the risk of depression too. Here at Wave HQ, we all love that moment of hitting the water at the end of a busy week for some well earned me-time. We sometimes feel like the world slows down when we’ve got that paddle in our hands and the water around us.

There’s nothing we love more than SUPing with friends and family.

Is SUPing good exercise?

It’s SUPer (sorry) good exercise… When you’re paddling, not only are your working aerobically but your legs, arms, shoulders and core are all engaged in propelling you forward, meaning that you’re getting an all over body workout.

If you’re thinking about trying Stand Up Paddling, find out which of our boards may be best for you.
